The family confronts Edith about the money after Lady Ida “finds” the money in her drawer. Edith cries and is hurt that after all these years they would think so little of her. Louis comes and confesses everything, stealing the will, the money and seeing Lady Ida plant the money in Edith’s room. They are disgraced by Lady Ida and apologize to Edith who tells them she does not wish to have the will and she rips it up. Lord Percy decides to confess his love to Edith who accepts and admits her love. They live happily ever after. I liked the ending but I didn’t like anything else in “The Inheritance.” I thought it was just unappealing. I’m glad I have finished it and that’s all I have to say about that.

Edith burns everything but the locket and cries. She does not wish to claim anything. Louis was spying and he steals the will before Edith burns it. Edith catches a theft named Louis stealing from Lady Hamilton. She takes what he stole and promises to not turn him in and tells him to never steal again. He begins to hate Edith and plans a way to get even. Lady Ida is seething and forms a mean plan. Lord Percy realizes he is in love with Edith but grows sad when he hears her say she won’t marry anyone rich because she is poor and because it would not work out. Lord Percy is about to leave to go back home to his mom.

While Arthur, Amy, Lady Ida, Lord Percy, and Edith are out riding horses in the woods something bad happens. Amy falls over a ledge after trying to foolishly get a flower and Edith saves her. The family is ecstatic and thankful. Lady Hamilton grants Edith with a higher rank. She dismisses Edith from being a servant and tells her she can be a friend and sister to Amy and always be with her. Edith is happy and her only problem left is Lady Ida.

Lord Percy starts to smile and be happy over time, thanks to Edith. Lady Ida is in a jealous rage over his apparent fondness of Edith and not her. Lady Ida thinks mean things about Edith and threatens to keep hating her unless Edith refuses any invitations to join the family in fun, especially with Lord Percy. Edith agrees, being the nice character she is, because she is a guest in their house and does not enjoy people hating her.

Arthur shows him around and that’s when Lord Percy first sees Edith. She is singing with her beautiful voice and then leaves as her song finishes. Lord Percy’s fixation starts here. I think the book is weird but it was written in 1849. I like romance books so that’s why I continued reading this book instead of getting a new one. I was curious to see how Edith’s life would end, happy or sad?

Edith Adelon is an Italian orphan who has the gifts of beauty, compassion, selflessness, and all other good qualities. She is poor and a servant in Lady Hamilton’s home. She teaches Amy everything she knows. Amy considers Edith as her sister rather than servant. Arthur (Amy’s brother) lives with them and is expecting a visitor. Lord Percy comes and he tells about his sad past. Lord Percy has a handsome but clouded face. He acts distant and distracted but is very kind and polite.

I have finished reading a book called “The Inheritance.” I was a little uneasy about reading this book because I was sure I wouldn’t find it interesting. I wasn’t entirely wrong in my assumption about this book. I think it was different but not completely boring. It was written in 1849 by Louisa May Alcott, she was seventeen at the time. The main characters are:  Edith Adelon, Lord Percy, Arthur, Amy, Lady Ida and Lady Hamilton. This book starts off a little confusing but becomes clearer with every page.
